Become an expert

The Alps Surgery Institute (ASI) is a specialist group of Shoulder and Upper Limb surgeons dedicated to the utilisation of contemporary techniques in shoulder reconstruction. This world-renowned private institution has three primary goals:

1. To further the science and surgical techniques of upper limb surgery,
2. To participate and assist in the education and development of the orthopaedic community worldwide,
3. To play a leading role in the improvement of current devices and the innovation of new implants and instrumentation.

To date the Institute has fulfilled its aims by combining the unit’s extensive clinical database with current scientific evidence through clinical analysis. In addition, the team retains close links with other world leaders in orthopaedic surgery with the aim of sharing ideas and treatment philosophies.

He has delivered several keynote lectures at international conferences and is regarded as one of today’s world leaders in arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction. In addition, Dr Lafosse has been recognised worldwide for his innovations in shoulder surgery, including the Lasso loop stitch, Arthroscopic suprascapular nerve release, Arthroscopic Latarjet procedure and the Lafosse suture knot.

” The 3 days courses were pretty intense and having the opportunity to rewatch the videos is a real benefit!

We sometimes didn’t get all the subtilities of a specific move while being present during the surgery. Surgerical acts are getting more complex every year and being able to access those replays is one of the best way to apply the treatment to the patient.”
John Smith, ASI Fellow
